In this workshop you’ll develop critical skills to succeed in 2D FX animation, from creating striking designs, building complex, energetic movement, to gaining key insights into efficiency and technique. You’ll be putting all your new learning into practice by developing your own designs and animations, and have a chance to receive personalised feedback to build your confidence in 2D FX.
Day 1: Design and Key Frames
SKILLS YOU’LL LEARN:
You’ll develop your understanding about the fundamentals of 2D FX design, focusing on balance, using asymmetry and dynamic energy lines to create movement. You’ll also learn how to use references effectively to inform your design. Finally you’ll learn how to develop strong key poses and build your animations from final pose.
PRACTICAL EXERCISES:
Create your own designs, build minimal efficient keyframe sequences, and refine motion with end-pose focus.
Day 2: Simplifying Complex Movement, Volume and Dynamics
SKILLS YOU’LL LEARN:
In day 2, you’ll develop your skills in bringing movement to your designs. You’ll look at timing, shape spacing, looking at how to animate interacting elements with layering techniques, and learn hacks for simplifying complex animations into clear steps without losing energy.
PRACTICAL EXERCISES:
Create your own animations with an emphasis on simplifying complexity, , and applying the movement principles you’ve learnt.
Day 3: Clean-up, Industry Insights, and Portfolio Reviews
SKILLS YOU’LL LEARN:
Learn techniques to clean and refine your FX animations while preserving energy and clarity. Learn hacks to improve efficiency like loops, layer organisation and making workflow smarter.
To wrap up, we’ll be discussing portfolio tips, industry insights, and you’ll also get a chance to receive personalised feedback on portfolio pieces or the work you’ve created during this workshop.
PRACTICAL EXERCISES:
Create polished FX loops with a focus on clarity and efficiency, apply the skills you’ve learnt to make your own project, receive personalised feedback.

¿Qué pasa si un día no puedo ver las clases en vivo?
Ningún problema. Todas las clases son en vivo pero también serán grabadas y publicadas en nuestra plataforma. Para que puedas verlos cuando quieras durante toda la duración del curso. Esto significa que si no puedes asistir a tu clase en vivo a la hora estipulada, podrás verlos en la plataforma hasta el final del curso. Estas video-clases publicadas en la plataforma se pueden ver de forma ilimitada durante la duración del curso, pero no se pueden copiar ni descargar. También se pueden consultar durante 6 meses una vez finalizado el curso.
